ShopZend Checkout Monitor Privacy Policy

How ShopZend handles store and checkout information for ShopZend Checkout Monitor.

Effective September 26, 2026

Scope

This policy applies to ShopZend Checkout Monitor, a Shopify app that monitors a store’s checkout for errors, and to support for the app. The ShopZend Privacy Policy covers the ShopZend website and other ShopZend products. This policy does not cover Shopify or other apps installed on a store.

Store information

When a merchant installs the app, we store the store’s domain and Shopify identifiers, access tokens issued by Shopify (encrypted), the settings of the app’s web pixel, and plan, billing cycle, and usage records. When the merchant opens the app, we also receive basic request, device, and security log data needed to run and protect it.

Customer events

A web pixel added to the store sends us Shopify’s standard customer events from the storefront and checkout: pages and products viewed, cart and checkout steps, errors from checkout apps and messages shown during checkout, checkout and order identifiers, order totals, the browser identifier Shopify assigns, device, browser, and language details, and the page address. Shopify withholds buyer names, email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, and postal codes from the pixel, though the city, region, and country of the shipping address may be included. We do not store what buyers type into checkout fields, except discount codes they enter.

Buyer consent

The pixel runs as an analytics pixel and follows the store’s customer privacy settings: where a buyer has not agreed to analytics, Shopify does not send us their events. The pixel is not used for marketing and does not take part in any sale of data.

How we use information

We use this information only to show the merchant how their checkout is performing, including issues, their effect on completed checkouts, and the timeline of each checkout; to count usage for billing; to answer support requests; and to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the app. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or combine data from different stores to profile buyers.

Service providers and disclosures

We use hosting, database, and content delivery providers to run the app; they may process information only to provide those services to us. Usage totals are sent to Shopify for billing. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect buyers, merchants, or the service.

Retention

Storefront and checkout events are deleted after 30 days, except that checkout events of stores on a paid plan are kept for 13 months. Before deletion, events are summarized into daily counts that contain no browser identifiers or page addresses. Copies prepared for customer data requests are deleted after 30 days. When a merchant uninstalls the app, Shopify asks us 48 hours later to delete the store’s data, and we then delete its events, summaries, and records.

Buyer rights and data requests

The merchant decides how the app is used on its store, and we handle this data on the merchant’s behalf. Buyers should contact the store to access or delete their data. When Shopify forwards a buyer’s data request, the app gathers the events related to that buyer’s orders and browser and shows them to the merchant to send to the buyer. When Shopify forwards a deletion request, we delete those events.

Security and international processing

Information is encrypted in transit, access tokens are encrypted when stored, and access is limited to the people who operate the service. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Our providers may process information in countries other than yours; where required, we use applicable safeguards for those transfers.

Changes

We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
